ASUP Strike Update: ASUP Strike End In Sight

The outcome of the student delegation led by NAPS senate president. To a meeting with the leadership of ASUP in Abuja, yesterday, 4th June 2014. after extensive deliberation and appraisal of the struggle so far the PAINs and the GAINs, the ASUP leadership acknowledge the frantic effort of the National Assembly both REPS and the SENATE.

They like wise revealed the assurance of the senate committee on education chaired by sen. Chukwumereje to personally take the issue to the president GOODLUCK JONATHAN all in effort to ensure lasting solution to the ongoing face off between the FG and the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, ASUP to an end.

As well Invites all concern offices. Meanwhile the passionate appeal for the suspension of the strike was placed before the ASUP leadership on behalf of the entire SUG presidents of the affected polytechnic by the senate president with the sense of giving the FG another benefit of doubt as they have shown readiness to attend to the all the demand of the striking lecturers but only demanding for more time while students returns to class room.

A strong tone of consideration is observed towards the appeal while a clause Is added that if truly the cause Is for the betterment of the system and benefit if the student our appeal should be considers or ASUP lost the sympathy of the student and that of the public. The ASUP ascertain that her NEC Meeting shall be hold by next week while our appeal shall be table before the NEC council for consideration.

I hereby implore students to be more patience as we are very sure from all indications that the END is here already for the ASUP STRIKE.

I commend all SUG presidents, students and the general public for their support so far as we assure you all of best representation at all level.
