The man has been charged before an Oshodi Magistrate court as he has not been able to refund the money.
Police prosecutor, Cpl. Kehinde Olatunde, told the court that Rufus, 54, who resides at No. 4, Oremeji Street, Ilupeju, Lagos, committed the offence on May 20 at his residence.
“The accused stole the money his wife kept inside her wardrobe and disappeared to an unknown destination,” he said.
Cpl. Kehinde Olatunde said when the complainant discovered that her money was missing, she called her husband on the telephone, but he refused to pick her calls.
“The accused also refused to come home and all efforts the complainant
made to retrieve her money failed,” he said. The prosecutor said the
accused was arrested 10 days after his disappearance.
Anyway, efforts are on to settle the matter out of court but the wife is insisting on her complete money.
