FUNAAB To Graduate 81 With First-Class Honours

FUNAAB will graduate 81 with First-Class Honours in their upcoming 2014 convocation ceremony. A total of 81 students of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) are to graduate with first class honours, 1,267 with second class (upper division), 1,695 with second class (lower division), while 427 and 30 will be graduating with third class and pass respectively.

These figures came out of a total of 3,859 first degree and postgraduate degree students of the institution that will be graduating for the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 academic sessions.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Olusola Oyewole, gave this indication this during a pre convocation press conference in Abeokuta on Monday, stressing that the school was conscious of contributing its quota to the development of the society in line with its motto, ‘Knowledge for development’.
He added that efforts are being made to ensure that the institution’s research outputs are relevant to the needs of the society.
The VC said over the years the university has maintained high academic standards made possible by the immense contributions of its ever dedicated members of staff, coupled with conducive and peaceful teaching and learning environment within the available resources.
Speaking on the activities to mark the joint 21st and 22nd convocation ceremony, Oyewole explained that there will be research and agriculture fair today, ‘Heroes day of recognition and excellence’ on Thursday, convocation lecture to be delivered by Vice Chancellor, Caleb University, Imota, Ayodeji Olukoju, on Friday, and the convocation proper on Saturday.
He stated that all activities to mark the ceremony will be held at the university’s ceremonial building.
He added that the tradition of excellence has helped the university greatly in producing well-behaved graduates who are making waves in all facets of life.
“Although the Webometrics ranking is not a total reflection of quality, it however serves as an indication of our commitment to excellence.
“It is a thing of joy that FUNAAB is still the second best university in Nigeria and 29th in Africa in the world Webometrics Ranking.
“FUNAAB also recorded another landmark achievement by becoming a World Bank Africa Centre of Excellence in Agriculture,” he said.
