21,500 Delta Students had so far benefited from the 2012-2013 bursary awards
Mr. Peter Amromanoh, who is the
Executive Secretary of Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board have
said that 21,500 students had benefited from the 2012/2013 bursary
awards.
This is coming as the Delta State
Government says it has introduced e-registration to check fraud which
has been associated with the manual registration of the state’s bursary
and scholarship scheme for indigenous students in institutions of higher
learning.
He said this will enable the board to deal directly with the students instead of the various student union governments.
The criteria for getting the award is
that the student must possess a Grade Point Average of 2.2 and above and
must also have their admission regularised by the Joint Admission and
Matriculation Board.
So far, over 150 Ph.D. and Master’s
Degree students are also benefiting from the bursary and scholarship
scheme of the state government.
Some of the beneficiaries like, Agali
Ifechukwude of Obafemi Awolowo University and Ogaga Akpojiyovwi of the
University of Benin commended the state government for the gesture, and
assured that they would complement it with hard work.
